Three friends find themselves trapped inside their posh London apartment, which they can't leave because of an unexplained event that has turned the city into a war zone. A wealthy, ex-pat trio of friends - Leo (Jason Flemyng), Richie (Ian Somerhalder) and Danny (Lance Reddick) - is living the life in London; unbeknownst to them, however, is the imminent destruction awaiting them. After getting caught up in a bombing near Piccadilly Circus on New Year's Eve and witnessing firsthand how quickly social order disintegrates in the face of disaster, the group narrowly escapes with their lives after taking refuge inside their posh London apartment. Once they attempt to venture back outside for supplies, however, the group becomes stranded inside the building. The explanation for this turn of events is never made clear, but it becomes immediately obvious that there is no simple fix: the group tries to escape and barricade themselves in and out of their apartment and encircle the building with burning cars to keep those infected from reaching them; meanwhile, those infected with a mysterious virus begin randomly attacking others who now exhibit unpredictable and violent behavior. All attempts to escape prove futile as the infection begins spreading throughout London. The group soon realizes that they are on their own, and their only hope for survival is to locate the one person who might be able to tell them what's going on: a scientist named Jasper Knight (Iain Glen), whose work on a new vaccine might have something to do with the pandemonium plaguing London. As Knight's location proves evasive, Leo begins to worry that his pregnant girlfriend Jody (Alice Krige) is being left alone in a different part of the city. After a night out searching for supplies, Richie returns with a few case of beer and some good news: he found Jody and she's just fine. The next morning, however, Jody is missing without explanation. Richie and Leo puzzle over her disappearance for a moment before they're accosted in the apartment by a group chasing a young woman named Tamsin (Hayley Atwell). After a brief standoff, it becomes apparent that Tamsin is infected with the same virus, but she has been caught off-guard. She can't explain what's going on either, but she draws them to Knight's lab nearby. Upon arrival at Knight's lab, the group is attacked by some of Knight's people who are also infected; after putting down their attackers, they continue inside only to find another surprise waiting for them: Jasper Knight himself. Knight is infected with the virus, but he is still lucid and fully cognizant of his surroundings. He reveals that the virus was released by a terrorist organization called "H.I.V.E." ("How Infectious Violence Erupts") who has been working on it for years; they've unleashed this new deadly strain of the virus on London to prove that they can use it for bioterrorism purposes, and now that it's out in the wild, there is nothing anyone can do to stop it. The group also learns that Tamsin is Jasper's daughter; she had left home years earlier after becoming disillusioned by her father's work on biological warfare (to which he now claims to have abandoned). cfa1e77820
